Clay is one of the oldest building materials in the world — and one of the most sustainable. Unlike ceramic, concrete, or brick, it requires no firing, no kiln, no thermal process to become what it is. It comes from the earth and goes on the wall with as little intervention as possible.
When a material is this close to nature to begin with, sustainability isn’t something you have to engineer in. It’s already there.

When we built our new facility, we rethought how we make everything. The new factory produces ten times the output of the previous one — at a fifth of the energy per unit. No gas is used in production. No water is discharged. The small amount of water we do use for cleaning is filtered and recycled, and collected by a specialist company when it’s reached the end of its life.
Every particle of dust generated in the process is captured and fed back in. Nothing goes to landfill. Waste is separated, sold to recycling companies. Packaging is primarily paper — and we’re working on eliminating plastic entirely.

Clay is a material that can and will last. Done properly, it will wear beautifully. And a surface that lasts decades has a far smaller environmental footprint than something that ends up in a landfill a few years down the line. In this way, durability is sustainability.
